> [!info] Work In Progress ## Ranger Rank ### Recruit Anybody who joins the Rangers of Asmythe is first granted the rank of recruit. A recruit is expected to cook and clean and tend to the guild hall until they are assigned to their first quest. ### Layman When a Ranger has completed their first successful mission they are promoted to Layman. Laymen are the soldiers and grunts of a questing party, expected to tackle problems head-on and "take one for the team". ### Journeyman Journeymen travel around looking for quests and answering calls for help. They mostly work independently of the Rangers guild, returning to the guild hall to recover from quests and replenish their provisions. ### Knight When a journeyman has made a name for themselves and the Rangers they are promoted to knight and return to the Rangers guild hall. Knights organize and lead questing parties at the direction of local Warden. Most knights have already acquired the equipment they want as a journeyman but they can also requisition anything they want from the guild armory. They have comfortable rooms at the guild hall and eat well. When they travel they carry enough spending money for a private room at the tavern and high quality food and drink. ### Warden Each guild hall has several wardens, depending on the size of the town and population they are responsible for. When a warden retires a knight is promoted to take their place. Wardens are responsible for negotiating quests for the guild and assigning a knight to form a party for those quests. Usually only big quests make it in front of a warden because journeymen take care of the everyday quests. Wardens enjoy an easy life in the guild hall and rarely embark on quests. They have collected some very impressive equipment but they rarely use it. If needed, they can take anything they want from the guild as long as they don't cause trouble for the guild master or other wardens. ### Master Each master is responsible for an individual guild hall and all the Rangers who use it.
